St. Anne's Place

St. Anne's Logo

Part of our mission at SPCC is to be connected to our community; committed to service and social justice. We feel it is part of our social responsibility to instill in children from an early age the importance of advocacy, giving and support.

One meaningful way we accomplish this mission is through a partnership with St. Anne's Place. St. Anne's Place supports women and children in crisis by providing a stable environment and the opportunity to explore options for their future. Our partnership involves the center collecting for donation drives for the women and children of St. Anne's (this may include drives for back-to-school items, holiday gifts, winter jackets and clothing, toiletries, diaper, etc.). We have had representatives from St. Anne's Place educate our staff about their mission, and regarding homelessness in Minnesota. SPCC hopes to continue to develop our partnership with St. Anne's Place to include volunteer work and community events.

Winter Carnival Princesses 2013

As an annual tradition our Pre-K program coordinator, Les DuCloux, at Winter Carnival time discusses the history and mythology of the St. Paul Winter Carnival with his class. He also invites the Vulcans and Winter Carnival Royalty to visit the center. Weather permitting, the class takes a field trip to Rice Park to experience St. Paul's winter wonderland spectacle first hand. This is an example of one of the ways we engage our students in connections with our community.

Chez Arnaud Visits SPCC!

spcc chez arnaud

Chef Arnaud de Rambures, Head Pastry Chef and Owner of Chez Arnaud; our neighborhood authentic French boulangerie; visited SPCC on March 18, 2013. One of our preschool classes was working on a bakery theme; and Chef Arnaud visited the center to give the students an interactive presentation.  Chef Arnaud taught the class how Chez Arnaud prepares their beautiful and delicious  Madeleines!

Our gratitude to Chef Arnaud for being generous with his time and resources; offering our students the unique experience of cooking an authentic French pâtisserie with a trained pâstissier!

Photographer Christy Meyers took some gorgeous photos of the visit as well; check them out on her blog: http://christymyersphotography.blogspot.com/2013/03/baking-with-chef-arnaud.html
